Call for Paper

The committee planning the scientific sessions for the 41st ISHACON, 2009 is pleased to call for papers.

General guidelines:
This year 135 papers (35 Platform, and 100 Posters) will be accepted in the upcoming 41st ISHACON. The decision on acceptance of the papers and mode of presentation (poster/platform) will be made by the scientific committee.

1. The deadline for submission of papers is 30th of September 2008 (Tuesday). Papers received after this date will not be accepted.
2. All papers should be sent by post or courier. Papers will not be accepted by email.
3. The presenting author should be a life /ordinary/student member of ISHA and a registered delegate. ISHA membership is mandatory for ALL co- authors who are Speech and Hearing professionals / students. A photo copy of the membership certificates or ID cards of all co-authors (as above) should be sent along with the paper at the time of submission failing which the paper will not be accepted. 
4. All papers submitted by the due date will first be scrutinized for adherence to format guidelines. Only those papers that meet the guidelines will be considered for the next process of peer review. It is expected that authors will be informed about the status of their papers by the first week of December 2008.

Guidelines for submission of papers:

• The paper should involve work carried out by the authors themselves.  No review of literature or compiling of work done by others will be accepted.
• The papers should be sent to ‘The Chairperson Scientific Session Committee’ with a covering letter in the following format.
• Two hard copies and one soft copy (CD) of the full paper must be submitted. Please do not send floppy disks as they have a tendency to get damaged or corrupted easily. Papers will not be accepted by email.
• Paper format:
  • All papers should be submitted on A4 size paper. Papers should not exceed 17 pages including title page, abstract, running matter, tables, references and acknowledgements.
  • The text of the paper should be in Times New Roman font, 12 points, 1 ½ line spacing, justified with 1 inch margin on all sides of the paper. 

The first page should only include:

• Title – All CAPs, centered, bold, 17 points font size
• Names of Authors, their affiliations and ISHA membership numbers- centered regular, 12 points font size. The name of the presenting author should be underlined. In case of student authors it is mandatory to mention the course and year in which they are studying.
• Paper submitted for the 41st ISHACON

The second page should include

• Title- All CAPs, centered, bold, 17 points font size
• Structured abstract (not exceeding 800 words) in the sub-headings of introduction, aims, methodology, results, discussion and conclusion. The abstract should be in Italics, Times New Roman, 12 points font size, justified, 1-line (single) spacing and with 1-inch margin on all sides of the paper.

Acknowledgements if any should be on a separate page.
APA format should be used for references.

Sequence of points in research papers:

• Title of the paper
• Need for the study
• Objectives of the study
• Methodology
• Results
• Discussion
• Conclusion
• References

5. Unless otherwise indicated all selected papers will be considered for awards under various categories.
6. For consideration under “young scientist award” the authors should be undergraduate students.  Faculty should be listed as guide.
7. Papers once received will not be returned to authors.
